Urgent Muttnews Alert! Arizona Humane Society needs Emergency Donations to Cover Storm Damage!

Phoenix was hit with hurricane force winds last night and pounding monsoon rain. The storm was so severe that tens of thousands of homes were without power even this morning. Muttnews was one of those affected! We were without power for 13 hours- which doesn’t sound too bad until you realize it is over 100 degrees here in the daytime and animals can’t be left home alone at that temperature. We got our power back around noon and had some damage to plants but nothing we can’t clean up.

The Arizona Humane Society was not so lucky.  The Arizona Humane Society’s facility near 15th Avenue and Dobbins flooded. Employees have been working since Thursday night to clean up, but the task has proved to be a daunting one as flooding caused the sewage system to back up.

Damage is estimated to be in the thousands. The AHS is hoping the public will help out so that they can pay for repairs and that no animals lives will be in danger.
